Creating A Connection

# Creating a Connection

A connection represents an authenticated link to one Salesforce org. You can have multiple connections — one per org — and any number of bindings can use the same connection.

Before creating a connection, complete Salesforce Connected App Setup to obtain your Client ID, Client Secret, and Login URL.

Steps

  1. Open the Connections page Go to Apps → SyncBridge → Connections.

  1. Click Add Connection Click Add Connection. The connection form opens with the following fields:

    • Connection Name — a label you choose, visible only in Jira (e.g. Production Org, Sandbox)

    • Login URL — your Salesforce org URL (e.g. https://mycompany.my.salesforce.com)

    • Client ID — the Consumer Key from your Salesforce Connected App

    • Client Secret — the Consumer Secret from your Connected App

  1. Connect Click Connect. The connector requests an access token using the OAuth 2.0 Client Credentials flow. A successful connection shows status Authorized in the connections list.

Multiple Connections

You can add connections to multiple Salesforce orgs — for example, a production org and a sandbox. Each connection is independent. Bindings reference connections by ID, so switching a binding from sandbox to production requires editing the binding's connection selection.

What Gets Stored

The connector stores your Client ID and Client Secret encrypted using Forge's secure storage (kvs.setSecret). The access token is refreshed automatically when it expires. No passwords are stored.
