From Jira Issue to Executed Contract
Persona: Maya Chen, Legal Operations Manager at a 300-person SaaS company.
Maya's team closes 40–60 vendor and partner agreements per quarter. Before E-SignSeal, her workflow looked like this: business owner opens a Jira issue for the deal, Maya drafts the NDA in Google Docs, exports to PDF, uploads to DocuSign, adds signers manually, chases them by Slack and email, downloads the signed PDF, and finally uploads it back to the Jira issue — six context switches, 20–30 minutes of overhead per contract.
This page walks through how Maya's team now executes the same contract without leaving Jira.

The situation
Jira issue: LEGAL-208 — NDA: Acme Corp Integration Partnership
Priya opens LEGAL-208 in Jira to kick off the NDA process. The Jira issue is the deal record — it already has the counterparty name in the summary, the business context in the description, and an internal deadline as the due date.
Step 1 — Maya sends the contract from the issue (3 minutes)
Maya navigates to E-SignSeal → Contracts → New contract.
Template: She selects Mutual NDA — Vendor Standard, the template her team maintains for standard partner NDAs.
Linked issue: She types LEGAL-208 and selects the issue. E-SignSeal previews the resolved document: the {{Summary}} field resolves to "NDA: Acme Corp Integration Partnership," the {{Assignee}} field shows "Maya Chen," and the {{Due Date}} field shows "25 Jul 2026."
Signers: She adds two signers — james.wu@acmecorp-internal.atlassian.net (the Acme Corp contact who is already a Jira user in the shared workspace) and priya.sharma@company.com (the internal approver).
Settings: Title set to Mutual NDA — Acme Corp — Jul 2026. Expiry: 14 days. Reminders: on.
Send: Maya reviews and sends. The wizard closes and the contract appears on the Contracts list with In progress status.
Total time: under 3 minutes. No external tool opened.
Step 2 — Signers receive and act on their invitations (same day)
James Wu and Priya Sharma each receive a Jira notification and an email:
Action required: Sign "Mutual NDA — Acme Corp — Jul 2026"
James is a Jira user in the shared workspace, so his link opens E-SignSeal's signing session natively. He:
Reviews the rendered NDA (his name and company appear correctly from the issue's Assignee field)
Enters the OTP sent to his Jira email
Scrolls to the bottom and checks the consent checkbox
Types his signature
Submits
Priya signs the same day following the same process. Because signing is parallel, their sessions are independent — neither has to wait for the other.
Step 3 — The contract completes automatically
The moment Priya submits (the last signer), E-SignSeal:
Generates the sealed PDF with both embedded signature images and the appended audit certificate
Attaches Mutual NDA — Acme Corp — Jul 2026 (Signed).pdf to LEGAL-208 in Jira
Changes the contract status to Completed
Sends a completion notification to Maya
Maya receives the notification while in a different Jira issue. She navigates to LEGAL-208, sees the signed PDF in the Attachments section, and marks the issue as Done.
Total elapsed time from send to attached PDF: 4 hours. No email threads. No DocuSign login. No manual upload.
What the outcome looks like
After completion:
LEGAL-208 in Jira has the signed PDF attached alongside the existing issue fields, comments, and linked issues — the contract lives with the deal record.
E-SignSeal contract detail has the full audit trail: exactly when James and Priya each opened the document, entered their OTP codes, scrolled to the bottom, checked consent, and submitted their signatures.
The signing certificate (the last page of the PDF) contains the SHA-256 document fingerprint, both signers' verification timestamps, and their IP addresses.
Maya's Dashboard shows the Median Cycle Time for Mutual NDA — Vendor Standard has dropped to 0.2 days.
Why this matters for legal operations

Time to located signed PDF | Search email + Google Drive | Jira issue Attachments tab |
